The Van Leeuwenhoek Laboratory (VLL) is one of the largest nanotechnology research facilities in Europe. It is unique in being the only laboratory where a national research organisation and a leading technology university join forces to create the extraordinary.

The VLL was established in 2009 with financial support from the Dutch nanotechnology initiative "NanoNed".

TNO is the national organization for applied scientific research with 4,500 employees and a annual turnover of 600 million euros. Its mission is to apply scientific knowledge with the aim of strengthening the innovative power of industry and government. http://www.tno.nl/

The laboratory is named after Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, the 17th century scientist from Delft, best known for the development of the microscope and subsequent discovery of the microbiology world.
